Protests erupt outside Kasba Police station as 3 arrested in alleged Kolkata college gang rape
A shocking case of 'atrocious' love jihad has surfaced in Hooghly district, West Bengal, where a man identified as Sheikh Alauddin alias Chilli (28) brutally assaulted his wife, illustrating the grave consequences of interfaith relationships in the region. The victim, whose maternal home is in the Chittapur police station area of Kolkata, lodged a written complaint alleging attempted murder by her husband, who remains absconding. Alauddin, with a history of criminal activities, has been on the run for four months after allegedly eloping with a married Hindu woman, perpetuating a distressing cycle of violence and coercion.
According to the victim, the ordeal began when she fell prey to Alauddin's love trap, leading to a forced marriage in 2018 marred by dowry demands. Matters escalated as Alauddin allegedly kidnapped another Hindu woman, blackmailing her with private photos and demanding ransom. The victim recounts a harrowing incident where Alauddin mercilessly assaulted her, hitting her with a bike, strangling her, and standing on her neck until she was left for dead. Despite her repeated attempts to seek justice, the victim's pleas were initially overlooked until intervention by Supreme Court lawyer Nazia Ilahi Khan prompted authorities to file a formal complaint at Chitpur police station.
